• Work on the film was originally scheduled to begin in mid-2023, but due to the Writers Guild of America strike (May 2 – September 27, 2023), the start of work was delayed by a year.
• Initially, it was planned that the film would be distributed directly on Hulu (a subscription streaming service owned by The Walt Disney Company), but after test screenings, it was decided to release the film in cinemas.
• The film's director and screenwriter, Marielle Heller, insisted that the dog into which the main character transforms have blue eyes and ginger fur, like the eyes and hair of Amy Adams, who played the role, and such coloring is rare for Siberian huskies. The trainers the filmmakers worked with didn't have any such dogs in mind, so they had to search through shelters, where they eventually found the right one. The dog was trained for 6 weeks – less than usual. After filming wrapped, it was taken in by trainer Adriana Endy Echeverria.
