What's left behind the scenes
- Initially, filming was planned to take place on the actual Plaza Mayor in Salamanca. However, due to the possibility of the square being closed for several months, a decision was made to use sets. A slightly smaller and simplified copy of the square was built in Mexico. Only wide shots from above were filmed in the actual Salamanca.
- Filming took place in Mexico City, Mexico.
- Matthew Fox called this film a tribute to Akira Kurosawa's 'Rashomon', but obviously, beyond the fact that one story in the film is presented through the eyes of several characters, there are no further parallels.
