Short description
To test its top-secret Human Hibernation Project, the Pentagon picks the most average Americans it can find - an Army private and a prostitute - and sends them to the year 2505 after a series of freak events. But when they arrive, they find a civilization so dumbed-down that they're the smartest people around.
What's left behind the scenes
- Director and screenwriter Mike Judge was inspired to create the film by an incident at Disneyland, where he once went with his family and saw two mothers fighting, each with a stroller and a baby. He then thought about how terrible it would be if the future turned out like that.
- In the film, when Cleavon's genealogical tree is shown at the beginning, one can find: George W. Bush, a monkey, a goat, a cartoon character, and a dog.
- According to director and screenwriter Mike Dodge, many of the film's characters wear clogs from Crocs due to budget constraints on the film's production. Initially, costume designer Debra McGuire suggested using Crocs footwear because of its low price and unusual appearance.
