• The role of Erjey (or rather, his voice acting) was initially planned for Jim Carrey. He was later replaced by Bruce Willis.
• Gene Wilder was offered one of the central roles (Vern). Ultimately, the producers chose Harry Shandling.
• Bill Murray (Erghey) and Harold Ramis (Vern) were also among the candidates for these roles.
• A squirrel named Hammy suggests naming the hedge, previously unseen by wild animals, Steve. Interestingly, the squirrel is voiced by actor Steve Carell.
• The plot of the cartoon is based on the eponymous comic book series by Michael Fry and T. Lewis. The raccoon Erghey and the turtle Vern face a serious problem – the native forests of the animals are being actively developed by humans, forcing the animals to make considerable efforts to survive in this urbanized world. A total of four cycles of comics have been released.
