What's left behind the scenes
- Lupita Nyong'o admitted that she had been afraid of cats her whole life and begged director Michael Sarnoski to use a different animal in the film. But he was adamant, and as a result, the actress had to undergo special therapy.
- A significant portion of the scenes in New York were filmed in London, where they built a semblance of New York's Chinatown. Scenes in the New York subway were filmed on closed stations of the London Underground.
