What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot using a Canon 5D Mark II camera. To create 3D effects, the camera was mounted on a special device that allowed it to be shifted to a different shooting point after the first frame, in order to take the second.
- The Laika film company used 3D printers to create all the facial expressions needed for the characters.
- In the weeks leading up to the film's release, Laika sent 49 packages to 49 people (including Neil Gaiman and Kevin Smith). Each package contained a Blight Hollow wooden crate filled with 'grave soil' that recipients had to dig through to retrieve a coffin. Inside the coffin was one of seven cursed zombies, complete with a brochure containing their name and background information.
- With the exception of Judge Hopkins, the seven cursed zombies are not named, but they have names: the aforementioned Judge Hopkins, Eben Hardwick, Taddeus Blackton, Lemuel Spalding, Amelia Wilcott, Goody Temper, and Wil London.
- Norman's ringtone is the main theme from John Carpenter's 1978 film *Halloween*.
