What's left behind the scenes

  • The film's main character (the girl Alice) appears before the audience in costumes designed by Milla Jovovich herself – the star has recently become a fashion designer as well.
  • Filming took place in Mexico starting May 17, 2006. The working conditions were so harsh that Russell Malkey was hospitalized due to dehydration and exhaustion.
  • The idea of Alice wielding two knives came from Ron Balicki, Milla Jovovich's martial arts trainer.
  • Initially, the film was planned to be shot in the desert regions of Australia, but the location was later changed to Mexico.
  • The scene where a flock of zombie virus-infected crows attacks an armored school bus with survivors is a reference to Alfred Hitchcock's famous film 'The Birds'.
  • Only 4 real crows were used in the scene of the zombie bird attack; the rest were digitally added in post-production.
  • At the 4th minute of the film, a laser cuts a piece of fabric from Alice's dress, however, when she jumps to the floor in the next shot, the piece of fabric is not on the floor.
  • When Alice climbs into the ventilation shaft at the 4th minute of the film, the laser manages to cut off a piece of the sole of her boot. When Alice jumps out of the ventilation shaft into the white corridor in the next scene, you can notice that the sole of her shoe is intact.
  • At the 6th minute of the film, the interior of an old house is shown, under the floor of which is hidden an elevator to a secret laboratory. When two laboratory employees go up in the elevator, you can notice that an old book appears on the floor in the bottom right corner of the frame, which wasn't there before.
  • At the 7th minute of the film, laboratory staff drop Alice's body into a pit already containing numerous bodies of previous Alice clones. Despite the clones having been subjected to experiments for a prolonged time, none of the bodies show signs of decomposition or drying out.
  • At the 19th minute of the film, it is shown that all representatives of the Umbrella Corporation were attending the meeting remotely via holograms, but each of them had a glass of water placed in front of them.
  • At the 19th minute of the film, a powerful optical scope with a reticle and magnification is demonstrated. However, the next shot reveals that Alice’s crossbow is fitted with a non-magnifying reflex sight. Furthermore, Alice sights through the scope with her right eye closed.
  • At the 19th minute of the film, Alice shoots a zombie in the head with a crossbow bolt, pinning it to a van and splattering the van’s wall with blood. When Alice drives up to a gas station and examines the corpse closely in the next scene, the blood is no longer on the van.
  • At the 21st minute of the film, Alice examines a notebook found in a storage room. While flipping through the notebook, she focuses on a photograph. When she closes the notebook, the photograph is no longer on the page.
  • At the 26th minute of the film, Carlos kills a female zombie with a gunshot. As she falls to the floor from the bed, it can be noticed that the zombie's legs are not made up.
  • When Betty locks herself in the bus at the 41st minute of the film, her face is covered in blood and small wounds. When the crows break in and fly at her, it can be seen that the blood and wounds have disappeared.
  • At the 55th minute of the film, a motorcade passes by the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign, however, the sign reads "fantastic" instead of "fabulous".
  • When the motorcade enters Las Vegas at the 56th minute, car tracks from previous takes can be seen in the distance on the sand.
  • When Carlos crawls under the truck at the 61st minute of the film, it can be noticed that the gun in his hands is loaded. When, in the next shot, the zombie tries to grab his legs and Carlos aims the gun to fire, the gun is already unloaded and the slide is open.
  • At the 61st minute of the film, Carlos manages to fend off zombies under a truck, and a scarf is wrapped around his mouth, although in the previous frames it was at neck level.
  • At the 67th minute of the film, Alice bursts into the tent where Dr. Isaacs is located and kills everyone present. After a scene change, Isaacs disappears, and for several seconds he manages to exit the tent through the same entrance Alice used and run to the helicopter.
  • When the undead reach for Carlos at the 74th minute of the film, in the right part of the frame, you can notice that one of the zombies has a hand made up only at the wrist level.
  • At the 74th minute, at the moment of the explosion, the fuel truck is surrounded by zombies. When Alice drives a car along the path cleared by the explosion in the next frame, there isn’t a single body or “living” zombie around.
  • The two knives in Alice's hands were the idea of Ron Balicki, Milla Jovovich's martial arts trainer.
  • The scene where a swarm of virus-infected zombie crows attacks an armored school bus with survivors is a reference to Alfred Hitchcock's famous film "The Birds".
  • Only 4 real crows were used in the scene of the zombie bird attack; all the others were digitally added using computer graphics.
