What's left behind the scenes
- The filmmakers doubted the film's success: they believed a story about a Russian boy wouldn't be appealing to audiences, as the Eastern Bloc had recently collapsed and Czechoslovakia had freed itself from Soviet influence.
- The scenes in the subway were filmed at the Anděl station, which was called “Moskovskaya” (Moscow) during the years of socialism. It still features a panorama of the city of Moscow and communist symbolism.
