- At one point, the film was planned to be released as a four-episode miniseries.
- To maintain complete creative control and ensure that fans got what they wanted this time, Zack Snyder refused payment for completing his version of "Justice League".
- Shortly after the theatrical release of the film "Justice League" (2017), which many fans and viewers considered an inaccurate representation of Zack Snyder's vision, the hashtag #ReleaseTheSnyderCut began to gain popularity on social media in hopes of obtaining a possible director's cut. The "Release The Snyder Cut" movement increased the project's appeal to Warner Bros. executives, including through fundraising for numerous charities related to suicide prevention and awareness. Ultimately, in May 2020, after an online screening of "Man of Steel" (2013), Snyder officially announced the project alongside Henry Cavill.
