Short description
Vlogger Keith Gill sinks his life savings into GameStop stock and posts about it. When social media starts blowing up, so do his life and the lives of everyone following him. As a stock tip becomes a movement, everyone gets rich—until the billionaires fight back, and both sides find their worlds turned upside down.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Gabe Plotkin (Seth Rogen), the head of a hedge fund, acquired two enormous adjacent mansions on the oceanfront in Miami during the pandemic and then demolished one of the buildings to build a tennis court in its place.
  • Robinhood partners and owners Vlad Tenev (Sebastian Stan) and Baiju Bhatt (Rushi Kota) drive two identical Tesla car models both in real life and on screen.
  • Steve Cohen (Vincent D’Onofrio), the head of the hedge fund SAC, had a large pig as a pet in his mansion for 10 years. At some point, it became too cramped for her in the house, and she was given to a farm. The filmmakers couldn't ignore this fact, so the pig also appeared on screen.
  • The main character's brother, Keith Gill, – Kevin (Pete Davidson) – ran a mile and a half naked during heavy rain and a thunderstorm on a bet, both in the film and in real life.
  • The film's director, Craig Gillespie, was involved in all the events unfolding in the film: his son invested in GameStop stock and even made money on it. He tried to dissuade his father from making hasty decisions with the stock, but ultimately Gillespie failed and lost his money.
