Short description
Following their explosive showdown, Godzilla and Kong must reunite against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Director, writer, and producer Adam Wingard often played Kong or Godzilla himself to make it easier for the actors involved in the corresponding scene. According to Wingard, there was a public address system on set, and he periodically found himself with a microphone in his hand, either shouting into it: “Roar!” or roaring himself for one monster or the other.
  • The scene where Godzilla awakens and destroys an image of a fat Godzilla eating pizza was the filmmakers' response to comments from some critics after a screening of Gareth Edwards' sci-fi action film "Godzilla" (2014), who called the Godzilla shown in that film fat and overly bulky.
  • Kong's toothache had a real-life prototype. Adam Wingard experienced the same sensations while working on the slasher "You're Next" (2013). He visited dentists repeatedly, but they didn't immediately understand the cause of what was happening, so he suffered from tooth pain throughout the entire period of working on the film.
  • King Scar – conceived as an antagonist to Kong – was thin and lanky in contrast to Kong's musculature and overall appearance, which externally resembled, among other things, an orangutan.
  • According to Adam Wingard, they struggled for a long time to figure out how to finish off King Scar without scaring the audience, and eventually decided to freeze him.
  • During test screenings, they considered introducing a new monster into the script at one point. A creature named Phosphora would have replaced Mothra, but the audience didn't like it, and the filmmakers left the familiar Mothra for the viewers.
