What's left behind the scenes
- The film makes frequent use of computer graphics, but some scenes showing Harold (played by Zachary Levi) drawing in the air were actually filmed using glass positioned between the actor and the camera, on which he drew.
- Initially, it was intended to be a fully computer-generated film from Sony Pictures Animation, but instead it became a film that combines live-action and animation, with seven companies from different countries working on the animation.
