  • All the shamanic rituals shown in the film are as realistic as possible. Because of this, actress Kim Go-eun was afraid that a spirit might possess her.
  • The four main characters (Choi Min-sik, Kim Go-eun, Yu Hae-jin, and Lee Do-hyun), as well as two assistant shamans (Kim Sun-young and Kim Ji-an), bear the names of Korean independence fighters, while the mother of the American family (Lee Eun-nan) shares the name of a pro-Japanese official and informant.
  • On one of the posters, the silhouette of the sky replicates the outline of the Korean Peninsula.
