What's left behind the scenes

  • At the 24th minute of the film, when the Piggy Bank quickly flips through television channels, you can see frames from Pixar's short animated films, including “Luxo Jr.” (1986), “Red's Dream” (1987), “Tin Toy” (1988), and “Knick Knack” (1989).
  • The scene where Rex chases the car in the toy store is a reference to the film “Jurassic Park” (1993).
  • The toy repairman, Jerry, who fixed Woody, is a character from the Pixar short film “Jerri’s Game” (1997).
  • The number A113 appears in every Pixar film; it corresponds to the number of the classroom where John Lasseter, Brad Bird, Pete Docter, and Andrew Stanton studied at CalArts. In “Toy Story 2” (1999), the number A113 can be found several times: it is Andy’s mother’s driver’s license number, as well as the flight number of LassetAir, the name of which references director John Lasseter.
  • Among Andy's toys, one figure is stylized after Kyle Broflovski, one of the main characters of the animated series "South Park" (1997).
  • In the scene where the toys are planning Woody’s rescue, Slinky Dog plots the route and provides the address for "Al’s Toy Barn": 1001 West Cutting Boulevard. This is the address of the Pixar Animation Studios in Richmond, California.
  • The immensely popular series "Woody's Roundup" parodies the real and highly popular American television show "Howdy Doody" (1947-1960).
  • The appearance of the toy restoration collector was modeled after the legendary British makeup artist Stuart Freeborn.
  • Working on each individual frame in the baggage scenes took animators over 70 hours.
  • The credits show an episode of "filming" where Buzz has to lead his squad through bushes on a lawn. Insects are sitting on the leaves in front of the camera, tiny characters from Pixar's animated film "A Bug's Life" (1998), and they are rejoicing that they have finally managed to convince the animators to film "A Bug's Life 2".
  • The scene in which Rex chases the car in the toy store is a reference to the film "Jurassic Park" (1993).
  • Among Andy's toys, one figurine is stylized after Kyle Broflovski, one of the main characters of the animated series "South Park" (1997).
