When Lisa first enters the video store, "Cannibal! The Musical" (1993) is playing on television.
In the video store scene, when Lisa learns that Joe is in porn films, the first shot shows a shelf of films. These are all films from Troma Studios.
Screenwriters Trey Parker and Matt Stone initially wanted to cast a stripper with very ample curves, known as "Eartha Quake," for one of the roles, but it turned out she had recently lost weight, and they had to find someone else for the part.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone initially considered making a musical, like their previous work "Cannibal! The Musical" from 1993, however, finding investors to film a story about Orgazmo proved not so difficult, so they had to abandon the idea of filming it as a musical.
According to Trey Parker and Matt Stone, a Japanese porn company, "Kuki Inc.," provided nearly half of the film's budget, as they were planning to expand their business into the Western Hemisphere and wanted to showcase some of their own stars to the local audience.
