What's left behind the scenes
- As in the original 1976 film on which this remake is based, the plot revolves around The Supremes, who worked at the Motown Records recording company and were later renamed Diana Ross and The Supremes.
- Whitney Houston (1963-2012) became one of the executive producers. She acquired the rights to create a remake around 2000. Initially, she planned for Aaliyah to play the role of Sparkle, but the singer died in a plane crash in August 2001.
