• The plot idea originated from an ad on Craigslist that producers Mark Provissiero and Naomi Odenkirk once saw and immediately forwarded to director and screenwriter Gene Stupnitsky. Provissiero told Jennifer Lawrence about it and offered her the lead role, which she accepted.
• When critics pointed out the 13-year age difference between the two main characters in the film, director and screenwriter Gene Stupnitsky immediately stated that the age difference between the main characters in “Silver Linings Playbook” (David O. Russell, 2012), starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, is 15 years, but no one paid attention to it.
• According to Jennifer Lawrence, she was relentlessly questioned about whether she actually intended to film nude in combat scenes on the beach (she was harassed after already agreeing to it). The filming took two days, and throughout that time, Lawrence remained on the beach nude, fighting both men and women in front of the entire film crew.
