What's left behind the scenes
- The working titles of the film were "Arach Attack" and "Arac Attack" (under these titles the film was released internationally, except in the USA). However, the beginning of the Iraq War (Iraq Attack) forced the creators to change the title to avoid unwanted associations.
- Filming of the movie began in September 2000 in Australia.
- In the scene where the survivors walk through the mine, Chris is distracted by a smell and says it's methane. Methane is an odorless and colorless gas, and a person cannot smell it.
