What's left behind the scenes
- Florence Stanley's (1924-2003) last role, as she passed away shortly after finishing work on the film.
- At the end of the first film “Atlantis: The Lost Empire” (Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise, 2001), Kida had tattoos appear on her face. They are gone again in this sequel.
- The first story about the kraken is based on the plot of Howard Phillips Lovecraft's (1890-1937) short story “The Call of Cthulhu” (1926).
