• For the filming of this movie, Sandra Hüller (who played Sandra Voyer) learned to speak fluent French.
• There were problems with filming the ball rolling down the stairs at the beginning of the film. It was not allowed to roll too quickly and out of the frame, so the ball was coated with a pet-safe adhesive.
• The hardest part was finding an actor for the role of Daniel, the son. Four months of searching were unsuccessful. Only three months later did they find Milo Machado Graner for this role, who then had to urgently learn to play the piano.
• All scenes with Snoop (the dog) were filmed in one take over 20 shooting days.
• Filming the argument between Sandra and her husband (played by Samuel Tays), which plays such a significant role in the script, took two days. Sandra Hüller naively hoped to shoot everything in one take, but the scene turned out to be unexpectedly difficult.
