What's left behind the scenes

  • The film received funding on the condition that Jennifer Tilly would play Corky. Shortly before filming began, the actress cast as Violet left the project, and Gina Gershon was cast in her place. It soon became clear that Gershon was better suited for the role of Corky, so she and Tilly switched roles.
  • John P. Ryan's (1936-2007) final appearance on screen.
  • The central love scene in Corky's apartment was filmed in one take. The Wachowski brothers decided that this would look more realistic than editing together multiple takes. Such scenes are filmed on a closed set, meaning only a minimal number of personnel are present, however, “minimal” is still quite a crowd. Panels serving as walls need to be moved around the location to allow the operator to shoot from the desired angle, and that requires staff.
  • Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly performed the lesbian love scene completely nude, and themselves, i.e. without the use of body doubles.
  • Several actors sustained injuries during the film's action scenes. In the scene where Barry Kivell's character is hit in the head with a toilet, the actor suffered a head injury. And after filming the scene where Gina Gershon's character knocks a gun out of the hand of the character played by Joe Pantoliano, the actress had to get stitches on her hand – the impact was that strong.
