Short description
The scientist father of a teenage girl and boy accidentally shrinks his and two other neighborhood teens to the size of insects. Now the teens must fight diminutive dangers as the father searches for them.
What's left behind the scenes
- Chevy Chase and John Candy turned down the role of Wayne Zalinzki that was offered to them. John Candy, however, recommended Rick Moranis to the director, who ultimately landed the part.
- Filming took place in Mexico City, Mexico and San Diego, USA in late 1988.
- Screenings of the film in American cinemas were preceded by the animated short film "The Trouble with Belly" (1989).
- The project's working title was "Teenie Weenies," rejected because it looked too childish and unable to interest adult audiences. Other options, discarded during pre-production, were "Grounded" and "The Big Backyard."
