• Overweight Peter Sellers (1925-1980) was so envious of Robert Wagner's appearance that he went on a very strict diet, which included taking diet pills. This may have triggered a heart attack shortly before the film's release. Some biographers even claim the actor had dental work to straighten his teeth.
• Claudia Cardinale did not speak English, so the lines of Princess Dala were dubbed by 20-year-old Gale Garnett.
• During the bathroom scene, such a powerful foaming agent was used that the actors involved suffered chemical burns. Robert Wagner, at one point completely submerged in the foam, was blinded for 4 weeks.
• Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008) designed dresses for Capucine (1928-1990) and Claudia Cardinale. This was the famous designer's first Hollywood project.
