• Of all the actors who previously voiced the Smurfs, only Jimmy Kimmel participated in this project. As in the 2013 animated film 'The Smurfs 2', he voiced the passive-aggressive Smurf.
• As was the case with the Smurfs films produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation, some of the Smurfs were created specifically for this project.
• For the first time since the 1980s, Azrael, the cat of the evil wizard Gargamel, was not voiced by Frank Welker. This is the first project in the Smurfs franchise in which Welker did not participate at all.
• According to Peyo (real name – Pierre Culliford), the Belgian artist who created the Smurfs, they always wear headgear. In previous projects of the franchise, if a Smurf briefly removed their headgear, they were always shown in a way that prevented their head from being seen. In this cartoon, the Smurfs are shown without headgear.
