What's left behind the scenes

  • At the end of the film, Starsky and Hutch meet people who strongly resemble themselves, but older. These are the original Starsky and Hutch from the television series of the same name.
  • The film ends with the song "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith.
  • The scene in the biker bar, where Hutch introduces himself as "Kansas" and "Toto", was taken from the film "Easy Rider" (1969). The song "The Weight" by The Band at the beginning of the scene is also from that film.
  • In the cafe scene, the police tease Ben Stiller and compare him to Mel Gibson's character in "Lethal Weapon" (1987). "Lethal Weapon" came out in 1987, while "Starsky & Hutch" (2004) depicts events from the 70s, meaning no one could have seen "Lethal Weapon" yet.
  • When Starsky performs a police turn across a double yellow line, numerous tire marks from previous turns are already visible on the asphalt.
