In Charles Dickens' novel (1812-1870), the main character is named Pip. The filmmakers believed that in modern times this name would sound strange and named the main character Finn after Ethan Hawke's dog.
Great Expectations is another film in which fans will be able to discover the long takes that Alfonso Cuarón is so famous for.
All of Finn's artworks and portraits of the main characters in the film were created by Francesco Clemente, an Italian painter. The actors posed for him alone before filming began.
As producer Art Linson claims in his book 'What It Was?', the voice-over text in the film was written by David Mamet. He did it for free, but on the condition that no one would ever find out about his authorship.
