Short description
Officers Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh of the Los Angeles Police Department must stop a dangerous crime lord from China from getting his brother out of jail.

What's left behind the scenes

  • In the scene where Riggs and Murtaugh congratulate each other on their promotion, they shake hands and salute several times. An identical scene appears in "Forever Young" (1992) between Mel Gibson and George Wendt.
  • Kim Chan played a character named Uncle Benny. His character in "The Corruptor" (1999) had the same name.
  • The following actors appeared in all installments of "Lethal Weapon": Mel Gibson (Riggs); Danny Glover (Murtaugh); Darlene Love (Murtaugh's wife); Tracey Wolfe, Damon Hines, and Ebony Smith played Murtaugh's children; Steve Cahane (Captain Murphy); Mari Ellen Trainor (Dr. Woods).
  • Paul Turp appeared in all parts of "Lethal Weapon", but always in different roles. He played a mercenary in the first film, a killer in the second, Assistant No. 3 in the third, and a helicopter pilot in the fourth.
  • The car chase on the highway and the fight between Riggs and the Chinese man were filmed on Highway 215 in Las Vegas.
  • Filming began in January, seven months before the premiere. The film's editing took about three weeks.
  • Riggs' trailer is in the same location as Jim Rockford's trailer in "The Rockford Files" (1974).
  • When filming began, the film's script was not yet finished.
  • Roger Murtaugh's (Danny Glover) line, "I'm too old for this shit!" is said in every installment of "Lethal Weapon." However, in this film, Riggs says it in a slightly modified version: "We're not too old for this shit!"
  • In television commercials advertising the film, Chris Rock wore a police uniform and parodied Riggs. We never see him in a police uniform in the film itself. However, on the end credits, one of the photos shows Chris dressed in a police uniform.
  • Number of those killed: 30.
  • The car chase on the highway and the fight between Riggs and the Chinese man were filmed on Highway 215 in Las Vegas.
