What's left behind the scenes

  • Sylvester Stallone is thanked in the end credits.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger stated that this was the best film of his entire career.
  • Universal Studios needed to know for sure that Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito, and director Ivan Reitman would participate in the project because they were very pressed for time. The deal with the agents was concluded over lunch and written (and signed) on a napkin, after which DeVito framed it.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger always wanted to film a sequel to the movie "Triplets" (the title of this film, "Twins," can be literally translated as "Doublets") with Danny DeVito and adding Eddie Murphy to the cast. In 2003, DeVito contacted him, offering various plot ideas, but Schwarzenegger was busy with the California gubernatorial election. DeVito doubted Schwarzenegger would be elected. In 2012, at the end of Schwarzenegger's second term as governor, work on "Triplets" had not yet begun, and in 2019, DeVito announced that even the script was not fully ready.
  • There was no money for the fees of the two main actors and the director, so they decided to share a percentage of the revenue among themselves, and earned even more than their stipulated fees because the film was a box office success.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger received 20% of the revenue and earned a total of $35 million from "Twins" (1988) (this includes foreign markets, video and DVD sales, and television broadcasts) – more than from any film in the "Terminator" franchise.
  • On the day they filmed the scene where Arnold Schwarzenegger's character sings on a plane, Clint Eastwood visited the set and remarked to Schwarzenegger: “I didn’t know you had so much talent.”
  • The film was initially going to be called "Experiment," but that title was abandoned due to Schwarzenegger's Austrian origins.
  • Twin brothers reunited with their father after spotting him in a scene in downtown Santa Fe.
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger wanted to move away from the action hero image, and he agreed to work on this project believing he would look great in a comedy.
  • Starting at 1:11:15, when Julius and Vincent go to the restroom in the bar, you can notice a beer bottle standing opposite Vincent – but after the shot of the paper hitting the trash can, the bottle is standing opposite Julius.
