Theatre Play

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on a play by David Mamet.
  • The largest expense was creating the sound of rain, which drums throughout the first half of the film.
  • On days when certain cast members weren't directly involved in filming, they would still come to the set to watch others perform.
  • Rehearsals took three weeks, and filming took 39 days. Many scenes were shot in the first take. Almost everything was filmed in the order it appeared in the script.
  • Almost immediately after its release, the film began to be used in sales training, and many phrases from it became slogans and were frequently quoted.
  • No auditions were held for any of the roles in the film. Each actor was offered a role directly by the film's creators.
