• Debra Messing's film debut.
• The two top medals on the hero's uniform worn by Keanu Reeves are the "Bronze Star" with a V device cluster (from valor – bravery, an award for heroism in combat) and the "Purple Heart" (awarded to all service members killed or wounded in action against the enemy).
• Once, during his free time, Keanu Reeves went with friends to play hockey and sustained an injury. He had a torn lip and required six stitches. According to the schedule, the next scene slated for filming was a love scene with Debra Messing's character, to whom he said the following: "Just please don't hurt me."
• The screenwriter, Robert Mark Kamen, owns a vineyard.
