Short description
In Arborville, California, three high school students try to protect their hometown from a gelatinous alien life form that engulfs everything it touches. The first to discover the substance and live to tell about it, the trio witness the Blob destroying an elderly man, then it growing to a terrifying size. But no one else has seen the goo, and the police refuse to believe the kids without proof.
What's left behind the scenes
- All outdoor scenes were filmed in the small town of Abbeville, Louisiana. However, the town's name in the film is Arbevile, which is located in the state of Colorado. Initially, the film was intended to be shot in Colorado, but due to snow, filming was moved to Abbeville. The similarity in the towns' names is coincidental.
- Kevin Dillon's character uses Triumph Motorcycles: a 500cc T100R Triumph Tiger for general shots and a 200cc T20 Triumph Tiger Cub for stunts.
- The partially digested, but still alive, soldier was played by stuntman Noble Craig (1948-2018), who gained notoriety for his work in horror films after losing both legs and an eye in Vietnam.
- Methylcellulose was used to create the droplet.
- The role of Brian was offered to Chad McQueen, but he declined because he did not like the script and because he refuses to appear in films based on works in which his father, Steve McQueen (1930-1980), starred.
