Short description
Sophie reflects on the shared joy and private melancholy of a holiday she took with her father twenty years earlier. Memories real and imagined fill the gaps between miniDV footage as she tries to reconcile the father she knew with the man she didn't.

- The script is based on the memories of director and screenwriter Charlotte Wells.
- In an interview, director and screenwriter Charlotte Wells stated that during two weeks of rehearsals and preparation for filming in Turkey, there were two script read-throughs with Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio. Wells did not tell the actors that scenes with Mescal’s character in depression had been deliberately removed from the script, so that her reaction to them during filming would be natural.
- Before filming began, Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio spent two weeks together at a hotel on the coast.
- Charlotte Wells reviewed over 800 candidates for the lead female role.
- Frankie Corio would turn on a voice recorder and record herself while doing housework, and only then went to audition for Charlotte Wells.
