There are two versions of the film: Australian and American/International. In the international version, many Australian slang words have been replaced with more common expressions, and it is also slightly shorter due to the absence of several scenes.
In the American theatrical release, the word 'Crocodile' in the film's title was placed in quotation marks so that some viewers would not think that Dundee was actually a real crocodile.
In the scene where Mick Dundee is in the hotel bathroom, the film 'Major Dundee' (1965) is playing on television in the other room.
The original version of the film had a runtime of 104 minutes.
It was released in Soviet cinemas in 1988 under the title "Dandy nicknamed Crocodile".
The enraged wild buffalo that Mick Dundee tames was pumped with sedatives for safety reasons.
