Short description
An idyllic summer turns into a nightmare of unspeakable terror for yet another group of naïve counselors. Ignoring Camp Crystal Lake's bloody legacy, one by one they fall victim to the maniacal Jason, who stalks them at every turn...

What's left behind the scenes

  • Among all the 3D films released in the early 1980s, this film proved to be the most successful in terms of box office revenue.
  • In this installment of the franchise, Jason's costume finally took shape: the hockey mask, olive-colored shirt, and khaki pants remained virtually unchanged for the next seven parts.
  • After the third film, Jason Voorhees appeared on bookstore shelves – the screenplay formed the basis for books first by Michael Avallone, and later by Simon Hawk, who described the first four "Friday the 13th" films.
  • Not counting the opening with scenes from the second film, this is the only installment in which the characters never once say Jason's name.
  • To avoid leaks of information about the film's plot, the creators used the working title "Crystal Japan" in honor of David Bowie's song. It was from that time that the creators adopted a practice of using Bowie songs as working titles for different parts of the franchise for this purpose.
  • The total number of corpses is 13.
  • According to the established chronology, the events of the film begin on Thursday, July 12th, more precisely in the evening, when the store owner and his wife were killed. The events of the rest of the film take place on Friday the 13th.
