Short description
During a space voyage, four scientists are altered by cosmic rays: Reed Richards gains the ability to stretch his body; Sue Storm can become invisible; Johnny Storm controls fire; and Ben Grimm is turned into a super-strong … thing. Together, these "Fantastic Four" must now thwart the evil plans of Dr. Doom and save the world from certain destruction.

What's left behind the scenes

  • This film is by no means the first adaptation of the "Fantastic Four." The previous one was made in 1994, but it has not been released and, most likely, never will be. The sole reason for creating this version was the conditions for obtaining the rights. If the project had not been launched within a certain timeframe, the studio would have permanently lost the rights to adaptation.
  • Chris Columbus, Peyton Reed, Steven Soderbergh, and Sean Astin were all equally considered for the director's chair.
  • Paul Walker auditioned for the role of Johnny Storm.
  • Julia Stiles, Kate Bosworth, Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Banks, and Kadi Strickland auditioned for the role of Susan Storm/Invisible Woman. Ultimately, Jessica Alba landed the role.
  • Tim Robbins was considered for the role of Doctor Doom.
  • To better get into the role of the Creature, the actor Michael Chiklis read fairy tales to his children while wearing special dentures.
  • It took Michael Chiklis around three hours to get into the Creature's costume.
  • Although Stan Lee, the founder of the Marvel comic book studio, made occasional appearances in film adaptations of his comics, this was the first time he received a full-fledged role. In the film, he played Willie Lumpkin, a mailman and simply a good friend of the 'Fantastic Four'.
  • The film contains approximately 900 scenes with visual effects.
  • The film's initial budget was $50 million. But after the director presented the producers with a filmed scene on the bridge and requested a doubling of the budget, the producers readily provided Tim Story with the necessary amount.
  • In the final scene, when Doctor Doom is placed in a container among hundreds of similar containers on the ship, the ship's name is visible – “Toehead”.
  • In the scene where Victor and Ben break through the pool during a fight, a man can be seen trying to enter an apartment near the window. However, when the wave of water carries Ben and Victor (at 1:29:00 in the film) towards the window, the corridor is empty.
