What's left behind the scenes
- Hilary Swank (who played Sharon) began filming this movie five months after her father's death. In 2015, he received a lung transplant, and the actress put her own career on hold, spending three years helping her father recover from the surgery.
- Alan Ritchson (who was cast as Ed) agreed to star in the film because he wanted to play in an ordinary story about two people (without focusing on a romantic relationship between them) whose efforts unite an entire community.
