What's left behind the scenes

  • The role of Audrey Dunne was offered to Julianne Moore.
  • The music playing during Elijah's exhibition is the same composition that Rogue/Marie's mother was learning in the opening scenes of 'X-Men' (2000).
  • In the film "Die Hard 3: Vengeance" (1995), Inspector Cobb (Larry Bryggman) tells John McClane (Bruce Willis) that "next month he will be working as a security guard." In this film, Bruce played a security guard.
  • Elijah asks David why he chose a profession related to protecting people, and not some other one, among which he mentions organizing a restaurant chain. In real life, Bruce Willis is one of the founders of the "Planet Hollywood" restaurant chain.
  • Osteogenesis Imperfecta is a very rare, real-life disease that was recreated with particular accuracy in the film.
  • The main character of the film is named David Dunn. In comics, the first and last names of the main characters very often start with the same letter, for example: Peter Parker, Bruce Banner, Matt Murdock, Clark Kent.
  • Samuel L. Jackson suggested that his character have a glass cane.
  • As in the comics, the main characters are predominantly dressed in clothes of certain colors: David's clothes are green; Elijah's are purple. Samuel L. Jackson himself chose the color of his character's clothes, as purple is his favorite color.
  • "Unbreakable" was supposed to be the first film in a trilogy, but its box office failure dashed the original plans. However, "Glass," filmed 19 years later and serving as a sequel to both M. Night Shyamalan films—"Unbreakable" and "Split"—restored the 2000 film's status as the first part of the trilogy.
  • The film was shot from April 25th to July 2000 in the state of Pennsylvania in the cities of Philadelphia, Eaton, and Manayunk.
  • The film's director, M. Night Shyamalan, appeared in a cameo role as a stadium visitor.
  • The end credits of the film stated that it was filmed in memory of Elizabeth Lawrence.
  • The screen shows us the death of four characters, but 513 people die off-screen.
  • The shot of Audrey in the hospital, which we see through glass and as if in a slight haze, is practically identical to the first appearance of Lois Lane on screen in "Superman" (1978).
  • The film takes place in Philadelphia. In Elijah's workplace among newspaper clippings, you can notice the headline “Killer Virus Released at Airport.” Bruce Willis starred in the film “12 Monkeys” (1995), where the virus that led to the near-total destruction of humanity was first spread at a Philadelphia airport.
  • Several scenes related to Mr. Glass feature glass objects: we see the newborn Glass through a reflection in a mirror; we see him as a child through a reflection in a turned-off television screen; he leaves his business card on the windshield of David Dunn's car; we see his reflections in the glass of his gallery; his cane is made of glass.
  • The logo of the television channel reporting on the train crash is the Fantastic Four logo.
  • Several important items for the film's plot are shown upside down for the first time: a television news report about the train crash; Elijah's first comic book; a "Do Not Enter" sign on the grounds where the train wreckage is stored; a silver pistol with a black handle, which Elijah sees on a man in a camouflage jacket jumping over turnstiles; Audrey in an overturned car; Elijah's face when he fell down the stairs.
  • The newspaper that David shows his son reads as follows: “Headline: RESCUED. Hero Saves Two Children. Parents Found Dead in Home. By Nicole Marcella. Police are investigating a criminal trespass at a home that led to the deaths of three people in the Bala Cynwyd area. Officials are unable to explain the motivation of the Good Samaritan who saved two young children last night. Details of the incident are superficial, but according to police, after freeing the children, the unknown hero killed the person responsible for the parents' deaths. Police are currently unable to identify the hero. According to the children, he was approximately 6 feet tall and was wearing a long dark green rain slicker. The children’s names are being withheld until next of kin of the deceased have been notified. Currently, police are still trying to identify the killer. Philadelphia police are asking for any information leading to his identification.”
  • In “Die Hard with a Vengeance” (1995), Inspector Cobb (Larry Bryggman) tells John McClane (Bruce Willis) that “next month he’ll be working security.” In this film, Bruce played a security guard.
  • "Unbreakable" was intended to be the first film in a trilogy, but its box office failure thwarted the original plans. However, "Glass", filmed 19 years later and serving as a sequel to both M. Night Shyamalan’s “Unbreakable” and “Split”, restored the 2000 film’s status as the first part of the trilogy.

  • Several important items for the film's plot are shown upside down for the first time: the television news report about the train crash; Elijah's first comic book; a "Do Not Enter" sign on the site where the train wreckage is stored; a silver pistol with a black handle, which Elijah sees on a man in a camouflage jacket jumping over the turnstiles; Audrey in an overturned car; Elijah’s face when he falls down the stairs.
