• The first rough cut of the film was 4 hours long. Director RZA wanted to split the material into two feature films, but co-writer and producer Eli Roth disagreed. As a result of painstaking work, the filmmakers managed to reduce the film's length to a reasonable 90 minutes.
• It took RZA and Eli Roth over two years to work on the film's script, during which they refined every aspect of the plot and every detail of the weapons used.
• The Wilhelm scream can be heard when Tadeusz throws a man off the balcony.
• When Russell Crowe walks through the room, he puts on glasses, but before he reaches the door, the glasses fall off. However, when he opens the door for Madame Blossom, his glasses are back in place.
• Russell Crowe agreed to star in the film as a favor to director and screenwriter RZA, because he had previously given rap lessons to athletes from the Australian professional rugby team "South Sydney Rabbitohs," which Crowe co-owns.
• RZA wrote the role he appeared in specifically for himself. Two months before filming began, he even started learning one of the styles of wushu, practicing for an hour or two each day.
