Short description
In a city where fire, water, land and air residents live together, a fiery young woman and a go-with-the-flow guy will discover something elemental: how much they have in common.
What's left behind the scenes
- The plot is based on the life story of director Peter Sohn with his parents after immigrating to the United States from Korea, when none of them knew a word of English, and the family settled in the Bronx. The Sohn family also opened a small shop in the area called "Sohn's Fruits and Vegetables" – just like the Ember family in the cartoon.
- It took seven years to create the cartoon. Work was done both in the studio and remotely.
- Instead of traveling the world to gather the necessary material, the filmmakers watched footage of Venice and Amsterdam on "YouTube".
