Short description
At the behest of Roger Dorn -- the Minnesota Twins' silver-tongued new owner -- washed-up minor league hurler Gus Cantrell steps up to the plate to take over as skipper of the club's hapless farm team. But little does he know that Dorn has an ulterior motive to generate publicity with a grudge match between the big leaguers and their ragtag Triple A affiliate.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film was shot in Southern California in early October 1997, when the weather was unusually cold. While viewers might believe the games were taking place on hot summer nights, the temperature outside was around zero degrees Celsius.
  • During the second game between the "Hornets" and the "Bulls", the scoreboard showing the score of the eighth inning as 0-1 is visible. However, the very scoring run made by player Lance Pierre has not yet been shown in the film. Only in the following shots do we see how that point was scored, with the same scoreboard displayed.
  • During the first game between the "Hornets" and the "Bulls", after one of the scoring hits, the shot shows the "Hornets" bench, where, for some reason, one of the players from the opposing team is also present among their players.
  • During the second game between the Bees and the Bulls, the scoreboard is shown displaying a score of 0-1 in the eighth inning. However, the very scoring play made by player Lance Pierre has not yet been shown in the film. It is only in the following shots that we see how that point was scored, with the same scoreboard displayed.
  • During the first game between the Bees and the Bulls, after one of the scoring plays, the Bees' bench is shown, and among their players, for some reason, is a player from the opposing team.
