Short description
A group of heroic warriors has only six days to save the planet in "Mortal Kombat Annihilation." To succeed they must survive the most spectacular series of challenges any human, or god, has ever encountered as they battle an evil warlord bent on taking control of Earth.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Despite the film featuring many characters from the game, some of their names (Milena, Noob Saibot) are not mentioned in the movie.
  • This film marked Ray Park's debut in his acting career, where he worked as a stunt double for Raiden.
  • Dana Hee, who played Mileena, served as a stunt double for Kitana during the filming of the first Mortal Kombat movie.
  • John Medlen, the film's stunt coordinator, played the role of the red ninja Ermac himself.
  • Due to time and budget constraints, many of the actors and stunt performers played multiple roles in the film.
  • Christopher Lambert, who played Raiden in the first film, wanted to reprise the role in the second, but was busy filming «Beowulf» (Beowulf, 1999) at the time. Chris Casamass, who played Scorpion in the first installment, was also offered to continue his character's journey in the sequel, but he chose to work on «Batman & Robin» (Batman & Robin, 1997) instead.
  • The role of Jax was initially offered to Michael Jai White, but he declined it in favor of the lead role in "Spawn" (1997).
  • The role of Baraka was offered to Sylvester Stallone. He refused.
  • Jade was not a villain; on the contrary, in the game she was Kitana’s best friend and bodyguard. However, her actions involving the seduction of Liu Kang were copied from Tanya, who worked for Shinnok in Mortal Kombat 4. But since the film is based on the third game, Jade seduces Liu Kang instead of Tanya.
  • Christopher Lambert, who played Raiden in the first film, wanted to reprise the role in the second, but was busy filming "Beowulf" (1999) at the time. Chris Kassem, who played Scorpion in the first part, was also offered to continue his character’s journey in the second installment, but he preferred to work on "Batman & Robin" (1997).
  • The role of Jax was initially offered to Michael Jai White, but he turned it down in favor of the lead role in "Spawn" (1997).
