Short description
When Sarah Marshall dumps aspiring musician Peter Bretter for rock star Aldous Snow, Peter's world comes crashing down. His best friend suggests that Peter should get away from everything and to fly off to Hawaii to escape all his problems. After arriving in Hawaii and meeting the beautiful Rachel Jansen, Peter is shocked to see not only Aldous Snow in Hawaii, but also Sarah Marshall.
What's left behind the scenes
- Most of the film was shot at a resort called Turtle Bay Resort, located in Hawaii.
- During the filming of a scene riding a horse, Kristen Bell injured her leg. This scene was cut during editing, and in scenes towards the end of the film, the actress walks with a slight limp.
- When the film was first released, Universal Studios hired people who flew over cities where the film was playing in theaters and wrote the phrase “I hate you, Sarah Marshall!” in the sky with smoke. Women with that name began receiving phone calls from friends checking to see if they were alright with their husbands or boyfriends. Some of these women sued the filmmakers, but were told that such writings did not violate the First Amendment to the US Constitution.
- Filming took place from April to July 15, 2007.
