Short description
Chris crashes into a carload of other young people, and the group of stranded motorists is soon lost in the woods of West Virginia, where they're hunted by three cannibalistic mountain men who are grossly disfigured by generations of inbreeding.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Emmanuelle Chriqui dislocated her shoulder while performing a fall through trees.
  • Eliza Dushku performed almost all of the stunt work herself.
  • The full version of the film has a runtime of 95 minutes.
  • In the initial version of the script, the characters were around 30 years old. However, it was decided to make them younger so that the target audience could identify with the characters.
  • The main character, Jessie Burlingame, was named after the heroine of Stephen King's novel "Gerald's Game".
  • During the filming of one of the final scenes, Eliza Dushku accidentally set Julian Richings, who played Three-Finger, on fire.
  • Many actors and crew members suffered from poison ivy, as they did not immediately recognize the plant where the equipment was placed.
  • In one scene, Desmond Harrington broke his right kneecap. This significantly complicated filming. According to the plot, his left leg was shot, so he was forced to bear all his weight on his injured right leg.
  • The main character, Jessie Berlingame, was named after the heroine of Stephen King’s novel 'Gerald's Game'.
