Karina Rivero - Music, Sound Designer known for her work in such projects: «A Banishment, A Refuge» (2024),

Karina is an award-winning composer, sound designer and music producer with a passion for storytelling. Through her narrative-driven compositions, Karina explores the universe of sounds to create music that resonates with her listeners. Her music is inspired by sonic palettes that include both the orchestral and the electronic realms, drawing from all kinds of sonic influences for her music - from Alexandre Desplat, to Arturo Márquez and Subtronics.

Karina has collaborated in various musical and film projects. As a composer, she has worked with directors like Carlos Trujano, Arturo Brena, Héctor Magaña and Meng Meng, whose works have been present in film festivals around the globe. Lately, "Hierba Mala", by Carlos Trujano won the audience award at the Morelia International Film Festival. In 2020, she won second place runner up for the Score Live London Scoring Competition on its first edition. She has also collaborated with composers like Charles Papasoff, Rubén Luengas and Rosino Serrano as a music producer/engineer. Recently, the movie "Apapacho", with score by Papasoff and Luengas had its theatrical release in Montreal. She has received recognition for her recording through the Audio Engineering Society.

Her mentors include Dr. Andy Hill, ex vice-president of music production at Disney; Conrad Pope, orchestrator for John Williams; and Rosino Serrano, a two-time Latin Grammy Nominee for best arrangement. Karina has received recognition for her work in competitions such as Score Live London, where she got the second runner-up award and the Music Cosmos Composer competition, where she was a finalist. In 2022, she was awarded a scholarship sponsored by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, Academy Award winner for best score to study at the Film Scoring Academy of Europe, where she formalized her studies in the film music art and craft. She was also a part of Berlinale Talents in its Guadalajara Campus in 2020.

She has also designed for various films, notably participating in the sound design team for "I wish, I wish", receiving a Glass Screen Award Nomination for Best Sound Design. Karina was head of the Music Production and Scoring at VAW Estudio and has taught music theory and scoring in a classroom and private setting.
