- The triathlon swim was filmed in open water in Alicante, Spain, as the water in the Seine is too polluted.
- A significant portion of the underwater filming was done in a closed pavilion in Belgium.
- Before filming began, all the actors involved in the film spent five weeks in rehearsals.
- Director and screenwriter Xavier Jans offered this project to French production companies, but they all declined.
- The shark nicknamed Lilith gives birth to numerous offspring by the end of the film. In Jewish mythology, Lilith is a female demon, the Mother of Demons, who spawned many demons and other monsters.
