Initially, Alexandre Aja was invited to direct the film.
Some members of the gang in the 13th district wear t-shirts with the symbols of American National Football League (NFL) football clubs. The film crew did not obtain permission from the NFL Players Association to display the name of any player, and therefore, on the advice of the studio's lawyers, the players' names were removed from the t-shirts.
Luc Besson wrote the role of Lola specifically for Dan Verissimo.
Although Bibi Naceri was a co-writer of the screenplay, he was forced to audition for the role of Taxi alongside other actors.
Tony D'Amario was considered for the role of Taxi, but ultimately received an offer to play K2.
The entire production of the film took 10 months, from January to October 2004.
