- Woody Allen's first film shot entirely in Britain from beginning to end.
- Kate Winslet was initially cast as Nola Rice, but she turned down the role, citing a desire to spend more time with her family. And, considering the film was shot in Britain, Woody Allen had to recruit a certain percentage of the cast and crew from England. He obviously met the necessary "British" quota before Winslet was cast, and therefore, after she declined to participate, Woody confidently entrusted the role of Nola to American actress Scarlett Johansson.
- The painting on the wall depicting a girl with a red balloon, past whom Chris walks, was painted by Banksy – a graffiti artist from Bristol.
