What's left behind the scenes
- Filming took place in London and Cornwall.
- At the end of the film, Rory is reading a book called "Trash." Richard Curtis's next film, for which he wrote the screenplay, is "Trash" (2014).
- Zoe Deschanel was initially cast as Mary, but she left the project due to scheduling conflicts, and Rachel McAdams ultimately took on the role.
- This is Richard Griffiths' last film.
- The film was initially released to theaters under the title "Cupboard".
- The film's release date in the US coincided with the birthday of director Richard Curtis.
- At the beginning of the film, during the New Year's Eve party, the song "All The Things She Said" by t.A.T.u. is playing.
