Josh Hartnett was initially cast as Tino, who was eventually played by James Franco, but he left the project to play Danny in Michael Bay's war drama "Pearl Harbor" (2001).
Fairuza Balk grew her hair for filming with Scott Calvert, and used special hairpins during the shooting of the pool scene.
In one scene, Leon (played by Stephen Dorff) dreamed that his brother Bobby (played by Brad Renfro) died of an overdose. In 2008, Renfro actually died of an overdose.
