In both the original legend and all previous adaptations, Sindbad was a Muslim and originally from Baghdad, roughly from the period of the "Golden Age" (762-1258 AD). In this project, Sindbad is a follower of the Greek religion with a pantheon of gods. His friend Proteus is a Greek ruler of Sicily, meaning all the events take place between 733 and 212 BC.
Michelle Pfeiffer agreed to participate in this project only because her children persuaded her to do so.
